You’re paying $200 a month with USAA for one vehicle? I have two vehicles with USAA, plus some coverage for jewelry and electronics, and I only pay $270 a month. That didn’t change much when I upgraded from an F250 to an F350.
I have $250 deductibles on all my vehicles and live in a hail-prone area, which probably jacks up the rates.
Why would you try Hagerty for that?
They cover more than just classic cars, and they were $150 cheaper per month than my other options.
There’s no reason you should have trouble insuring an F250. They’re one of the most common trucks on the road. If you’re not using a broker, you might be missing out on lower rates.
I’ve always used USAA. They don’t have brokers, but I’ve never had any issues with claims, and they pay out well.
I missed that you’re with USAA. Here in Canada, Hagerty won’t insure trucks that new unless they’re modified and meet certain criteria.
I’m okay with sticking with USAA. This is my first non-daily driver.
Then just insure it with USAA or get a broker for this one vehicle. If Hagerty won’t work, those are your best options.
I have my F250 insured with Progressive, no issues.
I ended up insuring it with USAA. I was just surprised some places wouldn’t cover it.
We ran into trouble getting home insurance from three different companies because we had a dog.
That’s strange. I get landlords being picky about pets, but insurance companies? They’re getting weirder, probably because of all the natural disasters lately.
Insurance companies are fine with pets unless they’re the kind of dogs that can be dangerous. You won’t hear about a pack of Golden Retrievers attacking someone in the news.
Sometimes the F250 is listed as a Super Duty and not an F250. That could be causing issues.
If you don’t drive it much, check out Milewise by Allstate. It’s a pay-per-mile insurance plan, but it’s only available in some states.
Hagerty specializes in classic and unique vehicles. I don’t know what Policy Genius is, but it sounds like a quote service. Try Progressive for a quick online quote.
Policy Genius is like Kayak for insurance companies. I looked at Hagerty because a coworker uses them for his truck, which isn’t a classic either. And yeah, I’d only use Progressive if I was out of options.
I’m an independent agent, and I offer Progressive among others. In my state, they’re solid for auto insurance, though they lack new car replacement coverage. If you’re looking for top-notch claims service, check out Cincinnati, Amica, or Erie.
I’ve had no problems insuring my 2018 F250 through Alfa. I also insure a 2018 BMW X3 and a 2002 Mustang GT for about $1500 every six months with full coverage.
