What's a fair price for my 2003 F250?

I’m looking to sell my white 2003 F250 7.3L Lariat Crew Cab 2WD with 140,000 miles.

Here are the details:

  • Second owner, bought from my dad who rarely drove it
  • Great paint and body, no damage
  • Leather interior, 8/10 condition
  • Recently replaced injector cups and steering box
  • Front end fully rebuilt
  • No rust (Texas truck)
  • Hydra Chip with 6 custom tunes
  • Full 4" exhaust
  • SB CAI
  • Aftermarket radio with backup camera
  • Two 10" subs + 2 amps
  • Aftermarket headlights with HIDs
  • Leveled

I’m thinking of listing it for around $15,000. Does that sound reasonable?

You should start at $20k. Used market is tough right now, especially for low-mileage 7.3s. I’m in Houston and just bought a new one because everyone is asking top dollar for their 7.3s.

Only thing holding me back from $20k is that it’s 2WD, not 4x4. Don’t want to overprice it, but also don’t want to undersell. Got offered $10k for trade-in, but I’d like to offset my Raptor purchase as much as possible.

@Jordan
A dealer would likely list it above $20k. I work in construction, and plenty of guys drive 2WD 7.3s. $15k seems low for this condition – I know someone who paid $15k for a similar truck with nearly 300k miles.

@Keelan
Pre-emissions trucks are highly sought after right now. Honestly, I’d keep it if I had a family member selling one!

@Keelan
Had it listed at $15k for a week and only got a few bites, nothing serious yet.

Try listing it on a site with a national reach. Other states have stricter emissions, so there’s a market for Texas trucks that have modifications.

Sounds solid. Any accident history or damage?

No damage. There was an accident reported in 2018, though. My wife (who was pregnant with triplets) and I were rear-ended in a car wash. No damage to the truck, but we went to the ER as a precaution, which led to the report.

Where are you located, and what’s your asking price?

I’m in Houston and asking $15,000. Let me know if you’d like pictures – I can send them over PM.

Hello from North Ft. Worth! $15k sounds fair.

@Dallas
Appreciate the honest feedback.

Do you mind me asking if you did the injector cups yourself? I hear it’s a pain with the engine still in.

I took it to a trusted diesel shop nearby.

In Canada, 2WDs go for less than 4x4s. To compare, I bought a 2002 Lariat dually 4x4 for about $4,000 USD, but prices seem way higher in the U.S.

A lot of the ones here are pretty beat up and have rust issues.

@Jordan
Yeah, lots of rust up here too – tons of salt on the roads. It’s rare to find one this old without rust.

That’s why I’m asking if $15k is fair for a rust-free, low-mileage Lariat Crew Cab.
