Thinking About Converting to a Dually Rear End… Anyone Done This?

Has anyone here ever converted a 2015 F250 to a dually rear end? I’m thinking about doing it to my short bed but not sure if it’s worth the trouble or what parts are needed.

It’s not too hard, you just need to get all the right parts. Front spacers, 8x200 adapter, wheels, make sure the front gearing matches, rear end, fenders… lots of stuff to track down.

Honestly, if you really want a dually, you’re probably better off selling the truck and just buying one that’s already a dually. But if you’ve got the money to throw at it, I guess it can be done. You’d just need a full parts breakdown from a dually model.

Not judging here, just curious – why go through the trouble of converting your F250? Is it that you really need a dually but have already invested a lot into this truck, or is it more of an attachment thing?

I did a similar conversion on a 90 F250 by swapping the axle and bed, but it might be easier to just get a front and rear adapter. The front axle will also need either a swap or an adapter because the hubs are different for the dually wheels. Like others have said, it’s probably cheaper and easier to just buy a dually. Plus, driving around with a converted F250 will definitely get you some weird looks. It’ll also be harder to sell, and you might lose value since most people looking for a dually want at least a 1-ton truck.

At the end of the day, it’s all about finding the right parts like others have said. One option could be to look for an early 6.7 with a blown engine, so you can use it as a parts donor and scrap what’s left.

Following this post – I’m looking to do a similar conversion on an 07 F-350 4x4.
