You might never make a decision. You’ll always wonder if it’s too expensive, has too many miles, too many owners, or if a new model is coming soon.
Low miles, but 3 owners in 4 years is a little strange. However, some people just use these trucks as toys and get bored quickly. If it’s clean, drives well, has a clean Carfax, and no obvious signs of damage, go for it. But I’d start the offer in the $50k range. $65k is close to what you’d pay for a Gen 3.
I agree, something feels off about this truck. My guess is the cam phasers are still an issue. When I worked at Ford, we had a customer with a 2019, and we replaced the cam phasers 3 times, but the noise never went away.
The cam phasers were updated in 2020. My concern with this truck is all the mods. It’s got an aftermarket front bumper, suspension, and missing running boards. Who did the work, a pro shop or some guy in his garage? Plus, those front tires look like they’re close to rubbing. And yeah, the price should start with a 5, not a 6.
You can get a pre-owned Gen 3 for $5-8k more. It’s a no-brainer.
$95k MSRP… not sure how you’re calculating that. You could upgrade aftermarket, but adding shocks, seats, wheels, and tires will push you way up. I’ve had dealers offer me $70k for my 2020 truck, which is $25k less than a new 2024. Plus, my color is in demand. I’d keep it if I had the space, but I’ve got an Raptor R coming.
I was referring to a pre-owned Gen 3, not new.
Got it, that makes more sense.
But then you’d have to deal with how ugly the Gen 3 looks, even if the rear suspension is better.
3 owners is odd, but the Carfax might explain it. Could’ve been a GM’s truck for a bit, sold to one person, and then bought by a dealer. The truck has Fox 3.0s, an ADD bumper with a light bar, new wheels, and maybe 37s. That’s $10k+ in mods. Price seems a little high, but if you want something already modded, it might be worth it. Otherwise, get a Gen 3.
I have a 2020 Leadfoot with 11k miles I’m planning to sell in January. I just picked up a 2024 R in Avalanche, so I need to make room. If you can wait a few months, PM me.
That sounds like a solid option! Plus, I’ve got a 2020 LF too .
2020 Leadfoots are the best .
I’m definitely interested. I’ll PM you.
Looks like it’s got Fox factory aftermarket shocks/coilovers, which run about $7,500.
For that price, you’re better off getting a Gen 3. I got mine for $69k, CPO with 23k miles.
Don’t be afraid to check it out thoroughly. Pop the hood, check the bolts, fiberglass, and hood lines. Look for any signs of repair. I went through a nightmare with a brand-new Raptor, so be extra careful with a used one. Best of luck!
3 owners and low miles? That’s a red flag.
At least it’s got the Recaro seats!
