Just got my first diesel… did I overpay? 1995 F250 7.3L Powerstroke

Love that body style and two-tone. $4,500 is a good price.

My dad had one just like that back when it was new. Same color and everything. Is that in Idaho by chance?

Nope, I’m in Washington right now. :smile:

Right on. Funny enough, my dad drove to Walla Walla to buy his. Awesome truck, man. You got a steal. Between my family and me, we’ve got about five of these trucks running around.

@Sage
Glad to hear it! I’m thinking about lifting mine a bit.

My sister’s has a 3" lift and leveling kit. Looks great. By the way, if it ever starts shifting hard and flashing the OD light, it’s probably the throttle sensor. We’ve had that happen on a few of ours.

@Sage
Good to know, thanks!

I’d rather spend $5-6k on a solid diesel like that than $80k+ on a new one with all the emissions junk that’ll eventually fail.

Couldn’t agree more.

If it’s what you wanted, then you didn’t overpay. It’s worth whatever you were willing to pay for it. Enjoy your new truck!

Thank you!

Do yourself a favor—replace the valve cover gaskets now. On my '96, it was an intermittent problem that was hard to diagnose. It’s cheap and easy to do, and it’ll save you headaches down the road.

I’ll definitely look into that. Thanks for the tip!

Compared to Utah, that’s a smoking deal.

What would this run you in Utah?

At least $10k.

With how overpriced new trucks are, it’s hard to overpay for a 7.3 these days.

I park it on pavement, and there’s no drip! I heard these trucks usually leak.

They leak if you don’t fix the seals when they start. Most of the common leaks are easy to take care of.
