A buddy of mine has one. If you plan to keep it long-term, I’d recommend deleting the emissions equipment.

Stay on top of oil changes. That engine has a timing belt and chains, and the entire engine has to come out for a timing job.

How long does the timing belt usually last?
I’ve got the same truck in Platinum trim. Costs about $75 to fill up, but it lasts two weeks for me. Averaging 23 MPG overall and 16-17 MPG while towing.
I’ve heard they’re using this engine in Rangers overseas. I’d love to see a Ranger with this diesel here in the US.

They’ve made some improvements to the engine for the US market. Seems to be pretty reliable so far.
