Is there anyone with a 2017 to 2020 model who has upgraded from SYNC 3 to 3.4 using Cyanlabs?

The device was updated to 3.4 by a previous owner, however it is unclear if the hardware was modified or if Cyanlabs provided the update. Is it possible to find out? I am attempting to replace the maps from 118 with a more current version. Although the truck’s vin was updated to match my e-SN, everything is well.

I used Cyanlabs to update to the latest maps available around December 2023, though I barely remember the process now.

I am curious—did your truck originally have the 4 screen and maybe the previous owner upgraded it to the 8?

Can 4 screens be used with lariats? If that is the case, that could work out. Edit appears to only have 8 screens once you hit Lariat. The biggest problem I’m having is that I can’t get the maps update to work, even after receiving an updated USB from Ford for the new eSN. They also want me to do anything that will cause the module to be hard reset. I really don’t want to mess anything up if this was merely an update from Cyanlabs.

If it was from Cyanlabs, they know where they are doing

Yeah, but how can I tell if the previous owner just upgraded the screen or replaced the whole module? I am having trouble updating the maps, as I mentioned.

It is feasible. It will run you between $400 and $500, but it is doable. In my opinion, the Android auto compatibility was well worth the investment.

Do you have a link to the hardware or instructions? I would love to try this myself.

Do you know if Ford intends to roll out version 3.4 to all cars with Sync 3?
