That is basically it. I have been searching through various forums but haven not come across anyone with a 7.3 running a Banks iDash gauge. Also, do I need a separate probe to monitor EGTs since the Banks gauge connects to the OBDII port?
It depends on the year. I have got an iDash in my early '99, but it only reads battery voltage from the OBD2 port. For other readings, you’ll need probes or sensors. I think you need a 2008 model or newer to get additional data from the OBD port. Also, the thing does not turn off when you switch the key off.
I put in a boost sensor and an EGT probe.
You got it. My early 03 is this one. I am not sure how that works, but the idashes I’m seeing are for Chevy-specific or 2008+ universal models.
I mainly wanted the compact size of the iDash. If you are looking to monitor a lot of data in real time, you might want to check out the Edge CTS.
Yes, I did look at some of the more cutting edge equipment. I know this is sort of silly, but for some reason, I find larger monitors to be really visually appealing. Since I could put a glow shift pillar mount in the idash, it looked like a suitable choice. Is glow shift still bad, or have they improved?
I noticed that Glow Shift is still entirely analog, so each sensor requires a different gauge. Up to eight sensors will appear on a single gauge in the Idash.
The OBDII information won’t include any readings for the EGT or trans temperature, so you’ll need a probe for those as well.
