Has anyone heard of fast shifting and high RPMs?

About 130k miles were on a 2000 F250 7.3.

heard/felt a pop as you put the truck in drive. saw that the gears were shifting much more quickly than usual as soon as I pulled out of the driveway and began to drive. Its top speed was only 25 to 30 mph, but its RPMs could reach up to 2500. I just wanted to see if anyone wanted to try their hand at making this sound like something I can’t take anywhere or get someone here for tonight.

It seems like you may have damaged something in the torque converter.

Your RPMs are increasing and the transmission is still shifting, which suggests that the computer is correctly signaling the transmission to shift at the right points and the gears are engaging properly. However, it appears that power is not being effectively transferred from the engine to the transmission.

If that is the case, you should avoid driving it to prevent sending any damaged parts into the transmission, which could cause further damage.

Does the car have 4WD? If so, the transfer case appears to be in the LOW range.

This was the first thing I thought as well.

It was not by accident placed in the fourth low.

I have triple-checked, and it’s not the issue. The mystery continues.
