A new glow plug relay arrived. Is it still difficult to begin?
The glow plugs were last changed when? Usually, they start to lose their effectiveness after around five years.
Not five years ago, but I will probably have them tested.
After I replaced my GP and GPR, my 2000 would start instantly down to about 10 or 12 degrees. It never got any colder before I sold it, but I am sure it would have started even lower.
Although this has happened previously, I am astonished by how soon it happened.
First, clean the posts and clamps on batteries. My own just got underway at 13F today. At the mid-40s, it labored before cleaning.
Is it an OEM starter? If so, I would recommend upgrading it.
OEM replaced about 4 years ago.
In case it sounds feeble while cold, I would think about replacing it. My XDP starter spins the engine more quickly than the original design. There are other brands that, I think, go by the name of gear reduction.
