Anyone Done a Battery Cable Upgrade on Their 6.0 Powerstroke?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what does this upgrade actually fix? I see it on other trucks but never understood why stock cables aren’t good enough.

  • Replaces old, corroded cables

  • Better current flow (reduces voltage drops, stays cooler, and lowers fire risk)

  • You can run a bigger alternator

  • Great if you’re adding extras like a sound system, winch, or extra lights

And it looks really nice too :sunglasses:

EDIT

  • Helps battery, alternator, and FICM last longer (on my truck, it kept battery voltage at 13.3v and FICM at 48v, compared to 12.1v and 46.5v with stock cables). Combine it with a high-output alternator and you’re golden.

I’ve got a K&N filter (came with the truck) – is stock really that much better? I’m used to dual filters on my Ecoboost for more power, but I’m not sure what’s recommended for these.

I can’t say for sure, but any closed airbox is probably better than having the filter out in the open like that.

As a fellow wiring enthusiast, nice job on this!

Thanks a lot!

Haha… forbidden Lego!

That cone filter looks nice – solid upgrade!

Looks awesome! Saving this for when I can fund it.
