2002 F350 - Severe Oil Leak and Won’t Start

The other day, I was driving to work and went to pass a car, might have given it a little too much gas. Right after, the truck started sputtering, so I pulled over and noticed a ton of oil on the hood, mostly around the fill neck. I added more oil to try and find the leak, but now when I crank it, oil is pouring out near the starter. I am not great with this stuff, any ideas on what I should check?

It’s likely that a high-pressure oil line connecting the HPOP to the head, which supplies the injectors, has blown.

This. In a few seconds, three gallons of oil will be dumped. I have encountered quite a few of those in my build 7.3.

I was wondering if it’s a relatively easy fix or if it’s a real challenge of a job.

If it’s just the lines, it’s not too difficult, but it depends on the approach you choose. You can stick with the stock lines, which use a push-fit coupling, or go for aftermarket AN-style fittings.

In either case, I’d suggest replacing the fittings in the heads and HPOP (one on each head and the two on the HPOP), along with both lines. If one is damaged, the others may not be far behind. For stock style, consider getting them from RiffRaff. For aftermarket options, check out CNC Fab or RiffRaff to see which you prefer.

Not a bad work at all. I seem to have forgotten that loctite is required for fittings that are green and gel-like. Not just any o ring will do, fittings require specific rings. Quick disconnect fittings are another option. Two small screw drivers can be used to remove the fittings, but a special tool is required to remove them.
