Alright folks, I’ve been debating this with my buddies and figured I’d ask here: between Ford, Chevy, and Dodge, who do you think makes the best diesel truck? I’m talking engines, reliability, overall performance… the whole package. Let’s hear it!
Honestly, they all have their issues. Stick to regular maintenance, and any of them can last a long time.

Exactly. All of them will have emissions problems if you’re not driving them regularly, and all of them require consistent maintenance. At this point, it comes down to personal preference and what feels right when you drive them.
@Micah
Totally. Just pick the badge you like the most. Personally, I lean Chevy, but I’ve owned trucks from all three. They all get the job done.

Except for that one Ford engine everyone loves to swap out for a Cummins.
@Addison
Fair point, but you gotta admit, that year had a pretty awesome interior.

2008-2010 Ford trucks had the best interiors. I loved my 2008 King Ranch.

100% agree. They still look good today.
@Cade
If I had unlimited cash, I’d totally get one of those trucks with a Cummins swap.

Think you can do a Cummins swap in an '08 for under $20k? I’ve got a gorgeous Regency Badlander sitting in my driveway with a dying 6.4 engine.

They drive great… until the engines blow up.
@Addison
Ford body, Cummins engine, Allison transmission. That’s the dream setup.
@Addison
That infamous engine was actually made by International. Ford just made the mistake of buying another one from them after the 6.0 disaster.

Ugh, don’t remind me… $3k just for the fuel pump on that 6.0!
@Micah
Two great points up there. All brands have their duds, but honestly, Ford’s 6.7 Powerstroke might end up being as legendary as the 7.3. They’ve been using it for over a decade now. The L5P Duramax is also solid. I went Dodge because I’ve always had good luck with the 5.9 and 6.7 Cummins, but I almost went for a Ford F-250 Tremor before COVID hit.

Solid answer, even if it’s not the most exciting one.
Give me a Cummins engine, a Ford rear end, an Allison transmission, the ride quality of a Chevy, and the towing capacity of a Dodge. That’s the perfect truck.

That’s the dream right there.
@Vesper
Nah, that’s basically a Class 6 Kenworth.

I’ve been saying this for years: take a Super Duty body, drop in a Cummins, and pair it with an Allison. Toss in a higher trim Ram interior, and you’re set.
