Thinking of selling my 2001 7.3 Lariat… how much could it go for?

I’m considering selling my 2001 7.3 Lariat with 301k miles. The body is semi clean, but don’t be fooled by this picture. I bought it for $11k three years ago in Colorado. Here’s a picture I took this morning.

I’d pay $11k, but I wouldn’t buy it without seeing it first. That being said, the price could be more or less depending on a few things. Is it a 250 or 350? Also, if there are service and repair records, it could drive the price up. It really depends on what kind of repairs have been done, when, with what parts, and by who. At 301k miles, has the oil pan been resealed or replaced with a new dipstick adapter? Was the transmission rebuilt or replaced 60k miles ago by a reputable shop, or is it a reputable company-built unit? Have the injectors, turbo, up pipes, HPOP, rear pinion, or front end been replaced or repaired? One thing to keep in mind at this mileage is that the rods are probably PMRs (since it’s from that year, although some forged rods were mixed in), and they could fail just due to the mileage. Is it stock or modified? The truck looks pretty clean though, and I like the 08+ mirrors and the 05-07 headlights. Also, location matters a lot. In California, you could ask for more, but in other states where emissions are more lenient and there aren’t salted roads, it might go for less.

I really want that truck, it looks beautiful.

It’s up for sale now!

How much rust does it have? I’m close by but already own a 7.3 :man_facepalming:

There’s a little rust on the bed, but the frame is clean.

Is it a long or short bed? It looks like a short bed, but it’s hard to tell from the picture. Also, is it stick shift or automatic? My wife and I are looking for a stick, long bed, 4x4, crew cab, but we can’t find many, especially under $15k.

@Ren
I have a stick shift long bed, extended cab, 4x4 for sale.

@Ren
What part of the country is it in?

Here’s the link: 2005 ford f-250 super duty diesel for sale by owner - Missoula, MT - craigslist

@Ren
Ah, it’s a post-7.3. Is it a 6.0 or a 6.4?

@Ren
Yup, it’s a 6.0. I’ve been lucky with these, this is my 4th one, and the only thing I’ve ever had to replace is the alternator.

@Ren
I’m not against a 6.0, I’ll see what my wife thinks. We’ve got family in Idaho, so we could make the trip to check it out. I’ll message you about it soon. Thanks!

@Ren
Sounds good. The truck has a lot of service records too, about ten years worth in a binder. I’ll PM you so we can chat more.

If I was buying this sight unseen and considering the mileage, in my area (northeast), it’d probably go for around $15-18k.
