Should I be worried about this issue with my truck?

My 2015 F-350 has 115k miles on it and has been well taken care of. This is the first time I’ve seen the engine check light come on. I’m wondering if something might need to be replaced or if it’s a sign that something is about to fail.

Yeah, you might want to be concerned. More issues could pop up. Try cleaning the MAP sensor first. If that doesn’t help, I’d suggest removing both intakes and cleaning out the carbon buildup. The EGR ports can get clogged in the lower intake.

You’re probably damaging your engine. You should delete it.

Do you have a more advanced diagnostic tool? This issue is often caused by a dirty or contaminated mass air flow sensor or a blocked air filter. Try cleaning the mass air flow sensor with some sensor cleaner, replace the air filter, and reset the mass air flow sensor settings in the vehicle’s computer.

It could also be that the butterfly valve is stuck open.

Sounds like the EGR cooler is clogged with soot and isn’t working properly anymore. It’s usually a pretty straightforward fix, though it might be pricey if you take it to a shop. The cooler core likely needs to be replaced, and maybe the valve too. But most of the time, it’s just the cooler core that’s blocked, and the rest can be cleaned.

@Keegan
Thanks a lot for the help! I really appreciate everyone’s suggestions. I’ll get the truck to a shop as soon as possible.

I had the same issue with my 2014 a few years ago, and the dealer ended up doing a deep cleaning of the DPF.

That doesn’t even make sense.

That’s how you know the dealer was just trying to come up with something :laughing:
