She hates the cold

95 F350 7.3, standard conversion, working almost every day for the last 25 years. Sounds like a skeleton beating off in a filing cabinet when cold.

My old IDI sounded like a skeleton beating off in a filing cabinet when cold.

I can’t think of a single diesel that likes to start and run around freezing. BRUBBRUBBRUBBRUBBRUB.

LMAOOOOO, made me spit out my drink! That’s a good one.

God dammit, I can’t wait to bust this one out.

Hahahahah best explanation LOL.

Can you do another one of these but let it run until it warms up? I want to hear it level out. I feel like I’ve been robbed of that because of this post.

Completely agree. This just ruined my morning.

Do this. I love hearing them start on half the cylinders, then pick up additional ones one by one. (Or so it sounds.)

That’s exactly what’s happening.

Technically, a larger number of cylinders are usually firing every second or third cycle, rather than having a smaller number that aren’t firing at all. Assuming the engine is in good mechanical order with equal compression, injector delivery, and no dead glow plugs, etc.

How many miles does it have?

My 96 F350 Power Stroke never makes those sounds, plugged in or not. Maybe your glow plugs don’t work anymore. That sounds bad.

It’s sounded like that every cold start below -5°C since the day I bought it. She’s been through one engine rebuild and currently has 500k km on this one.

Maybe the Canadian version is just sh*t lol.

Sounds like the truck has been managing fine in the cold for over 500k.

Except for the terrible sound it’s making and needing an engine rebuild before 500k on a million-mile motor.

I hate it too, that’s why I moved south. Even when I lived in the north, I never plugged any of my diesels in.

Happy tractor noises. Or in this case, angry tractor noises.

I can’t speak to the OBS, but the Bullnose and IDI combo are really just a piece of farm equipment disguised as a pickup.
