No deposit needed. I’ve set up a test drive for tomorrow.
Sounds good. Get it inspected if you’re unsure. Enjoy it—it should outlast most marriages!
Who should I call for a pre-purchase inspection? I’ve never done one before.

Check with local diesel mechanics. Some shops might even do it for free if you let them know you’ll be a future customer. It’s worth asking around.

Even if it’s rough, you could easily make a profit at this price. These trucks hold value, and parts alone are worth it.
Update for everyone: I test drove it, and it drove great. Shifts smooth, turbo kicks in around 2,500 rpm, gets up to speed quickly, and sounds amazing. Should I pull the trigger?

Would you regret it if you didn’t buy it?
@Jody
Probably. It’s the cheapest diesel in my area, and I’ve been wanting a diesel for a while.

Then go for it! Looks like a fun investment. If $5,500 won’t break you, I’d say grab it.
The truck might be beat to hell, but that 7.3 will outlast a nuclear apocalypse as long as you keep it fueled.
It’s priced like a parts truck for a reason. Check the rust—it might need more work than you’re expecting.
The 7.3 Powerstroke is one of Ford’s best engines ever. Bulletproof and great for towing. Just check if the injectors and glow plugs need replacing—they’re common wear items.
If it’s legit, you’re getting a steal. The 7.3 is an amazing powertrain that’ll last forever.

It’s rotted out. It’s priced as a parts truck, and that’s probably what it’s best for.
@Ellis
Fair enough. Still a good price for the drivetrain if that’s all you’re after.
