Is my 2001 F250 Powerstroke 7.3 done for?

Where’s the coolant spraying from?

I had cracked injector cups on my ‘02 7.3, and it was dumping coolant everywhere because the pressure was pushing it into the cooling system. Make sure to drop a penny into the cup before using the removal tool, so you don’t get metal shavings in the engine.

They sell kits to replace the injector cups without pulling the heads. It’s not a hard job, but it takes time. I did mine over the weekend.

It’s probably the oil cooler O-rings. It’s not the worst job, but it’s definitely not fun.

Is the fluid in your overflow tank diesel? Are you looking to get this back on the road quickly and cheaply, or are you willing to tackle other issues while you’re at it? Is this a truck you plan to keep long-term?

If you’re changing the injector cups yourself, make sure to drop a penny into the cup before using the removal tool. The penny will prevent metal shavings from getting into the cylinders. I did this job last year, and it took me about 2 hours from start to finish.

Ouch, looks like somebody dropped a lug wrench under your hood. :grimacing:
