Spent about $45k at a premium shop rebuilding my ‘00 7.3. New transmission, full engine reseal, turbo, lift, and more. All work comes with a 1-year warranty. Planning to keep it for life!
Where’d you get the work done?

@Eli
Copperhead Diesel in Chandler, AZ.
@Eli
If you’re in the Midwest, AP Auto and Diesel in Lebanon, IN is solid. Georgia and Michigan have some good shops too.

Arizona’s Affordable Diesel Tech might be worth a call. They’re in Tucson.

Any specific shop in Michigan?

Can’t recall the name, but if I remember, I’ll post it.
Bought my 7.3 with 356k miles, and planning to put about $15k into refreshing all the major systems over time. Might’ve overpaid at $9k, but still way cheaper than new.
Sold my 2002 7.3 with 345k because of the interior. New owner swapped in a King Ranch interior. If your interior’s rough, that’s definitely a good upgrade.
Just rebuilt the heads, added new injectors, turbo, and tuner. No machine work was needed. Came to about $10k.

Ten million? I think you meant $10k!

Haha, yep! Typo there.
Ended up moving from a 7.3 to a 6.7… got a 2011 XLT with 224k miles for $16,500 and it’s been great. Traded it at 355k miles for a newer model.
You don’t need to spend $80k on a new truck. Plenty of decent options way under that.
My 7.3 isn’t going anywhere… following for inspiration.

Same here. Mine’s a bit older than the others, but I plan to do a full rebuild someday too. No need yet, though.
Swapping in an interior from a 6.4 and a really good detail would make it feel like new. Keeping mine until it’s no longer an option!
Spent $17k getting almost everything except the engine block replaced in my van. Injectors, glow plugs, HPOP, and more. Runs like new now.
If you want to do it right, with engine work, trans rebuild, suspension, and a full paint refresh (not a repaint), you’re looking at around $18k.
My truck’s so rusted it’d be $15k just for the body work alone!
