I’ve tried measuring, but I can’t seem to get an accurate answer. My truck is a 2001 F350 SuperCab, and I’ve been told the size is 41-3/8, but I’m not sure. Any advice?
Sorry, I meant to say SuperCab lol.
There are a lot of variables that can change the driveshaft length. Your best bet is to use a tape measure and measure from the center of the universal joint on each end.
Are you having trouble using a tape measure?

No, I can use one just fine—it’s just that the numbers I’m getting don’t make any sense! I’ve measured from every point I can think of. I keep getting 41.75 from the transfer case to the yoke and some other numbers past 42 when going all the way to the yoke nut.
@Gonzales
Here’s how you do it: measure center to center on the universal joint at the axle and the transfer case, or the outermost joint on a double cardan joint if yours has one. Make sure the truck is sitting with its full weight on the ground, and the front shaft should have a slip spline to allow for axle movement. If you’re ordering one, you give them this measurement.
For your engine/trans combo (e.g., 7.3 auto or manual), you can usually find a matching unit on RockAuto or O’Reilly’s. But if the truck is lifted or leveled, it could make the driveshaft seem longer due to the increased slip-shaft length.
@Ash
Yeah, it does have the double cardan joint. I just can’t measure the U-joints properly. I have the yoke on the front diff and the transfer case part where the cardan bolts on. The problem is I’ve seen like 8 different measurements for the 7.3 auto. I just need something straightforward from RockAuto or anywhere like that. The truck is completely stock, and I need 4x4 ASAP because the weather is horrible, and I commute 100 km to work every day. Lol, I’m stuck without it.
