Anyone interested in a 2001 7.3 with a lot of top-end work, new driveshaft, fresh fluids, wheels, tires, suspension, and a fully sandblasted and resprayed frame?

She’s got 380,450 miles, but she runs like a champ. Happy to share the full history and all the details with anyone interested.

Beautiful truck! I’m in Jersey too, but the rust battle has been rough for me. Who did the frame and chassis work for you?

Chassis was done by Super Duty Restoration in Toms River. Body still has some dents and dings, but the chassis looks amazing. Engine’s solid, just needs a little body TLC.

Let your friends know! If you find me a buyer, I’ll throw in a finder’s fee.

I’m in NJ too and just finished redoing my ‘02 7.3. These trucks are in demand right now; you shouldn’t have trouble selling.

Might start with AutoTrader, eBay, and Facebook Marketplace then.

What price are you hoping for?

Well, it’s had $25-30k worth of work, so that should count for something, but it’s high mileage, and the body needs a little work. I’ve seen these go for all sorts of prices, so it’s tough to gauge. I’d say mid-teens, but I’m open to negotiating. Waiting on some new seats to complete the interior. It’s got new wheels, tires, rotors, pads, calipers, brake lines, fluid, bearings, shocks, ball joints… and the engine’s in great shape too. I have a long list of everything that’s been done!

I had a 2001 extended cab 2WD 7.3. It wasn’t the smoothest or quietest ride, but it was reliable. Sold it with over 330k miles, and it never needed extra oil. Just a couple of cam position sensors and a front transmission seal. Miss that truck.

@Denver
Exactly. These trucks are workhorses. I’ve had it for a while but ready to pass it on to the next owner. Hope I find someone who appreciates it like we do!

Man, I’m looking for a similar spec but with a rusted-out frame.

Haha, well, it’s a northeast truck, so it’s got some rust, but the frame is still solid!

Is it a ZF6 or 4R100?

It’s got the 4R100.

I had a 2001 7.3 too. Not the smoothest ride, not quiet, but man, was it reliable.

Exactly! These trucks just keep going. I detailed it last week, and even with the miles, it turns heads. Those wheels really make it stand out.

Don’t get your hopes up too high. These 7.3s are tough, but once they hit 300k+, it’s hard to fetch a high price, especially with an extended cab.

What do you think is fair for it? Hard to set a price when I see them anywhere from $3,500 to $40,000 depending on condition and mileage. Some go for top dollar if they’re in good shape.

Honestly, I’m thinking AutoTrader might be a waste of time. Too many tire-kickers on there.

What exactly do you mean by ‘majority of the top end’ being rebuilt? Just curious because technically this engine doesn’t have a removable top end. Are you talking about reconditioning the heads?
