Why would you pick the small diesel over the EcoBoost?

Longevity, efficiency (especially towing), and low-end torque.

I get it, but:
- Diesel repair costs $$$
- 3.5 EcoBoost makes more HP and torque
- Diesel fuel costs more per gallon (plus DEF)
- 3 MPG difference in 4WD models isn’t much
Cold-weather starting can become an issue as it ages. There’s a reason this engine wasn’t around long.
@Jonah
Diesel is priced the same as gas where I live (Canada). Cold isn’t an issue for the newer diesels I see here.

New diesels, sure. But when they get older, they need to be plugged in on cold nights.

I do my own maintenance, so that’s not a huge issue.
