99 f250 transmission?

I recently purchased a 99 7.3 that requires a new gearbox. It’s the 4R100, as I know. Just curious if anyone on this site has any recommendations or thoughts on which one I should acquire.

Take it to Ford. Mine cost $5,300 out the door for a 3-year unlimited mileage warranty.

The Ford warranty is hard to beat.

Was the $5,300 installation cost or was there a part already?

I would love to brag that I rebuilt my 4R100 myself, but didn’t have the time . Ford’s prices are not too bad if you can actually get your vehicle in, though. Sometimes the wait feels like forever before they can get to it!

The general consensus is that Sam Wyse or BTS are top choices for a 4R100 rebuild. However, any reputable transmission shop should be able to handle the rebuild with upgrades to the valve body, snap rings, center support, torque converter, and so on.

If I were to have someone else build it, I would go with BTS, :100: but I rebuilt my E4OD myself. I used Alto Red Eagle clutches, Kolene steels, and the TransGo kit. If I were doing it today, I’d choose Raybestos GPZ clutches.

Reach out to Dave’s Auto Center in Centerville, Utah, if you are able to mail it or just chance to be nearby. If they don’t recommend a triple disc converter, have them rebuild it and make that request.

If you can send it out or are nearby, contact Dave’s Auto Center in Centerville, Utah. Have them rebuild it and ask for a triple disc converter if they don’t mention it.
