2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel Review Discussion

Let’s talk about the legendary 7.3L Powerstroke! This truck’s reputation as a workhorse is unmatched, but I’d love to hear your personal stories and thoughts. Whether you’ve owned one, worked on one, or just admire it from afar, share your experiences.

My dad spent a long time finding a clean 2002 F-250 with the 7.3L to tow an RV and handle heavy tasks. It cost him $14,000 with 175k miles on it about four years ago. Now it’s at 245k miles and still running great. The body will rust away before that engine quits. I bet he could sell it for more than he paid. These engines are becoming rare, and they last forever with good care.

@Teo
My dad had an '02 as well. Slow as hell, but once the turbo spooled up, it felt like it was on a rubber band. It leaked oil constantly though. Eventually, he just kept a pile of kitty litter under it, lol.

@Weston
My dad’s ’95 F-250 with the 7.3L was similar. Once the turbo kicked in, it felt like a rocket—at least for a truck of its size. It pushed you back in your seat on upshifts. Not bad for the time!

@Dru
Maybe it was tuned? Stock 7.3s are pretty slow.

Yeah, stock 7.3s are dog-slow. People saying otherwise might be remembering tuned versions or just being nostalgic.

Regular’s review of this truck was amazing. He’s really been on fire lately.

Agreed. When Mr. Regular dives into the cultural or personal significance of a vehicle, it’s unmatched. This video was one of those deep ones, not quite PT Cruiser level, but close.

Y’all ever seen people towing crazy loads with half-tons? My F-150 is rated for 13,000 pounds, but there’s no way I’d trust it with that much weight. It’s not just about moving—it’s about stopping safely.

@Peyton
Exactly. I see people here in the mountains pulling massive toy haulers with F-150s, and it’s terrifying. Just because it can doesn’t mean it should.

As someone who’s owned two 7.3s, this review was spot on. These trucks are tanks, but yeah, they’re slow unless you tune them.

What really solidified the 7.3’s legacy is how bad Ford struggled with the 6.0 and 6.4 that came after it. The 7.3 set a high bar, and it took them a decade to make a diesel engine as reliable again.

The 6.7 finally put Ford back on top. It’s powerful and reliable, a huge step up from the nightmare of the 6.4.

I have a ’96 F-250 7.3L 4x4 with 254k miles on it. Runs great! What do y’all think it’s worth?

If it’s clean and rust-free, you could probably get $10k for it. Maybe more depending on your region.

I just remembered why I don’t watch this guy’s channel. His style is so annoying.

Then just don’t watch. Problem solved.

Why don’t they make trucks like this anymore? All the new ones are too fancy.

They do. Just look for a work truck trim or commercial spec. They’re still out there.

Such a beautiful truck. They don’t make ’em like this anymore.
