These actually get decent mileage—some even hit 20 mpg on the highway. Most are in the 14-18 range.

My buddy’s truck must’ve been an exception. We were towing a boat through a pass, and it guzzled fuel.

Yeah, these engines were marketed as the ‘fuel savers’ back then. Feel bad for folks with the 460s—they’re lucky to get 4 mpg!

We’ve got a 460 on the farm. It never leaves the property, but we still fill it up weekly. :joy:

You can actually run these on thinned used motor oil. There are guys on TikTok who do it for dirt cheap fuel.
